Gorgeous gemstones and gold-filled earrings. The 12mm aqua chalcedony spike is set in gold vermeil. The lovely round white pearls are 8mm. And the garnet hearts are 7-8mm. All of the other metal components are 14k gold-filled. The earrings are 5.8cm from the top of the ear hook. The earrings are youthful yet chic, and slightly mismatched.
What is gold-filled?
Gold-filled metal is created by bonding or ‘welding’ a layer of gold to a base metal core, often copper. This is achieved by using heat and pressure. In order for an item to be classified as gold-filled, it must have a gold content of at least 1/20th of its total weight. Gold filled is hard wearing, and if looked after it should last a lifetime. It’s my personal preference.
