Five Ways to stay creative

While creativity can be a wonderful gift, it can also be frustrating when you feel stuck or uninspired. Creative blocks and obstacles are a normal part of the creative process. Even the most successful and accomplished creatives face challenges and setbacks in their work. So, don’t be discouraged if you struggle to come up with new ideas or feel uninspired.

However, don’t despair, as Moksi has some helpful tips to help you reignite your spark and find your groove again!

1.First things first, time to take a break

When you’re feeling stuck or overwhelmed, taking a break is the best thing you can do. When you’re feeling stuck, pushing through and trying to force your creativity to come out can be tempting. However, this often doesn’t work and can make the problem worse.  Step away from your work and do something that brings you joy. Whether walking in nature, meditating, or hanging with your friends, find something that helps you unwind and forget about work for a while. You’re giving your brain a chance to relax and reset. When you return to your work, you’ll often find that you have a new perspective or fresh ideas.

2. Next up, switch it up

Our surroundings can have a significant impact on our mood and mindset.  If you usually work from home, try working from a co-working space, library, funky coffee shop, or serene park. Maybe spruce up your workspace by adding some plants or funky decorations to get your creative juices flowing. Switching up your environment can help stimulate your senses and provide new inspiration.

3.Brainstorm with your creative crew

Sometimes, working on a creative project can feel lonely and isolating. By collaborating with others, you can get new perspectives and ideas you might have yet to think of independently. Joining a creative group or attending a workshop can be a great way to meet new people and connect with others who share your interests. Collaborating with others can provide fresh insights, new ideas, and even accountability to motivate you. Or, reach out to other creatives for input or feedback on your work.

4.Don’t be afraid to try new things

When we get stuck in a creative rut, it can be easy to feel like we’re out of ideas. Trying something new can help break us out of that cycle and give us fresh inspiration. If you’re a writer, try experimenting with a new writing style or genre. If you’re an artist, try using a new medium or technique. By exploring new avenues, you can often find new ideas and ways to express yourself by being open to new experiences, you can tap into your creativity and unlock your full potential.

5.Lastly, set goals and deadlines to stay on track and motivated

When you’re working on a creative project, it can be easy to get overwhelmed by the scope of the work. Setting goals and deadlines can help break the project into manageable tasks and motivate you. Celebrating your achievements can also help keep you motivated and inspired to continue your work.

Creativity is a process, so be easy on yourself if you hit a roadblock. Take a step back, try something new, and give yourself time to recharge. One important thing to remember is that creativity is not just about coming up with new ideas but also about making connections between existing ones. So if you’re feeling stuck, try to look at things from a new perspective. Challenge yourself to see things differently or try to find connections between seemingly unrelated ideas.

Creativity is a journey, not a destination. Don’t get too caught up in the result or the need to produce something “perfect.” Instead, please focus on the process, and enjoy the journey of discovery and self-expression.

With a bit of persistence and patience, you’ll be back to creating masterpieces in no time!
