What is a Keshi Pearl?
Normally in pearl cultivation, a little bead (nucleus) is inserted into the mollusc causing it to secrete layers of nacre that create the pearl.
However with Keshi pearls, there is no bead or nucleus, and the mollusc creates solid nacre which is the outer layer of the pearl that causes the shine and glow.
This process causes them grow in many different sizes and shapes giving them their uniqueness.
Making them highly coveted in modern pearl jewellery.
Never clean them with an abrasive cloth and never dip them in a jewellery cleaner – this will strip all the shiny luscious nacre from the pearl.
