A Keshi pearl is a non-standard pearl that is a by-product of pearl cultivation. In pearl cultivation, a little bead (nucleus) is inserted into the mollusc, causing it to secrete layers of nacre which create the pearl. With Keshis, the pearl grows without the nucleus and creates a solid nacre. It is the iridescent layer that forms the glow on the pearl’s surface. These Keshis develop in different shapes and sizes making these pearls so unique and a beautiful choice for modern pearl jewellery.

Pearls symbolize wisdom, serenity, integrity and loyalty. There are many wonderful tales and myths about this precious gem of the sea. It is also a favourite for brides on their wedding day as a symbol of love, loyalty and good luck. In ancient times they were a sign of wealth and high status.
